In which I ramble on about various things (as a man is wont to do after recovering from a sickness)
Monday was a lovely haze of sickness, fever, and sleep. Tuesday was a day at work that would have much better been spent sleeping. (I was as weak as a babe and fuzzy-headed. The 36 hours without any food probably didn’t help.) Today I was pretty much back to my old self. It’s a welcome feeling.
This weekend should be fun. The girls are having some girl-only party in Point this weekend so Brad is hosting a Man-LAN for the guys that will be baby-sitting (as well as the men without kids). It’s going to be the first real test for my new server that I have built. Right now it is put together and booting Windows XP and Slackware Linux but it’s not actually doing anything quite yet. The stress of LAN gaming should shake out any major problems. After that, I and my soon-to-arrive copy of Postfix: The Definitive Guide will get to work configuring it as my new web/email/database/chat/whatever server.
Insurance is annoying. Why would you send someone a refund check for overpayment of their premium, then cancel their renter’s insurance because of nonpayment?!
I am finally getting around to putting my new copy of iPhoto 5 to use on some pictures that should have been uploaded long before this. Thanksgiving 2004 and Christmas at JoAnn’s 2004 are up. The new tools in iPhoto even let me tweak the pictures a little more so the quality is better than ever before! New and improved!
My apartment is a shambles. I really need to put some work in on it. I suspect that a real cleaning will wait until spring, I need to at least make this place livable again.
The new consulting project gets more and more interesting. They keep asking me if I can do different things and I let them know my experience and ideas. They apparently have some grand plans for me. Sounds nice, but it’s still just talk. I have yet to actually do anything!
Morphine is a perfect band to listen to when you are melancholy.
